60TH ANNIVERSARY MEETING OF SLAVISTS OF SERBIA, BELGRADE, 2022

On January 13-14, 2022, the 60th anniversary Meeting of Slavists of Serbia on the theme: «Slavic peoples and the modern world: man, language, culture» was held at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade. The organizers of the meeting were the Society of Slavists of Serbia and the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade.

 

«Russian language in Serbia today» Round table was held in the framework of the 60th Meeting in the Russian House in Belgrade. A traditional «Winter School» was also organized – a seminar for advanced training of teachers of the Russian language. The meeting was held online, 90 people attended from 10 countries (Serbia, England, Belarus, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Russia, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Japan). 83 reports were read out.

 

Opening the meeting, the chairman of the Society of Slavists of Serbia, Professor, Dr.Sc. (Philology) Bilyana Maric talked about the historical path of the Meetings of Slavists of Serbia, and also justified the choice of the subject of this meeting dedicated to the memory of Academician Predrag Piper. The Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade Iva Drashkic-Vechanovic made a welcoming speech.

 

After the official greetings, the traditional presentation of the prizes of the Society of Slavists of Serbia took place. Academician Slobodan Remetic, who was chairman of the Awards Committee, announced the winners of the Pavle and Milka Ivic Award for 2021:

Miana Kuburic Macura, Professor of the Faculty of Philology of Banja Luka, «Category of Compliance in the modern Serbian language»;

Natasha Milanov, Serbian Language Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), «Serbian Lexical Fund from the point of view of polysemy».

The laureates thanked the founders of the award for their appreciation and recognition.

 

The Radovan Koshutic Prize for 2021 was awarded to Professor, Dr. Sc. (Philology) Peter Bunyak, Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade, Secretary of the 16th International Congress of Slavists – Belgrade, 2018, for the monographs «Crossroads of Slavic studies» and «Literature and Contactology» and Professor, Dr. Sc. Alexandra Kord-Petrovich, Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade for the monograph «Czech Travel Notes about the Balkans».

 

5 reports were heard at the plenary session (moderated by B. Marich). The reports of B. Norman (Minsk) and D. Sokolovich (Belgrade) were devoted to the legacy of Academician Predrag Piper, D. Vojvodic (Novi Sad) and L. Popovich (Belgrade) presented their comparative studies, I. Antanasievich (Belgrade) told in her report about the history of the creation of the first Russian-Serbian gymnasium, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

 

Further meetings of the meeting were held within the framework of 7 sections.

«Russian language in Serbia today» Round table, held on January 14, 2022 at the Russian House in Belgrade, attracted the attention of specialists of Russian philology internationally, in particular from the Balkans.

 

The 60th Anniversary Meeting of Slavists of Serbia is a remarkable event within the framework of international Slavic studies. We express our gratitude to the organizers and wish them new major scientific successes.
